Dylan Crandall takes the victim to Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital in New Jersey. Dylan Crandall tells Dr. House, his old friend, that he is the father of the victim. But House doesn’t believe his words. Dr. House wanting to find out the truth performs a paternity test right from the beginning but when asked if he was running the paternity test, he lies about running such tests. House after successfully diagnosing the patient, admits about running paternity test on them, but hides the result from the patient and tells her that Dylan Crandall is really her father. Although Dr. House is a person who doesn’t show interest towards others has a soft corner for his old friend Dylan Crandall. He doesn’t want to question his friend’s statement that he is the father of the patient.

Dr. House later discovers that the patient had been to a recording studio before experiencing hallucinations. House then finds out that she had inhaled mold in the recording studio. Molds represent all microscopic fungi that grow in the form of long multi-cellular filaments called hyphae. Molds are present everywhere and mold spores are common. Mold spores do not pose any threat but when present in large quantities is a serious health hazard. They can cause allergic reactions and respiratory problems. Apart from allergic reactions, certain molds that produce mycotoxins pose serious health hazards to both humans and animals. Exposing oneself to high levels of mycotoxins can cause neurological problems and can prove to be fatal at times.

House then concludes that she had contracted zygomycosis as a result of inhaling molds in the recording studio. Zygomycosis is an infection caused by fungi of the order zygomycetes. It is a rare yet potentially life threatening fungal infection. Later in the episode a comical dialogue comes up when Dr. Cuddy asks Dr. House to help her find the correct sperm donor. But Dr. House refuses telling her that choosing a father out of genetic lineup is not right. He advises her to choose someone that she knows well and is trustworthy.

At the mentioning of this Dr. Cuddy thinks that Dr. House was actually mentioning himself. The very misanthropic nature of Dr. House is clearly depicted in this scene by Hugh Laurie when Dr. House tells Dr. Cuddy that she should choose someone she likes with an intention to prove her assumption wrong.
